25.08.2008 Setra with Active Brake Assist

The Setra S 416 HDH is the second coach from the Evobus group which will be available with the new Active Brake Assist (ABA) system, also known as emergency brake system. The system reacts when there is a slower moving object in front of the coach, creating the danger of a collision. After a number of warnings it actively starts braking. If ordered together with Adaptive Cruise Control, the Active Brake Assist will be integrated in this system. Following a series of intensifying warning signals, the active safety system for emergency braking assistance automatically initiates a full application of the brakes should the driver fail to react to the imminent danger of a rear-end collision with a vehicle driving in front.

Active Brake Assist in the Setra Topclass 400 not only represents an investment in greater safety; it also helps cut operating costs, as coaches equipped with the system receive a five percent discount on the liability insurance and comprehensive collision insurance policies offered by among others the Mercedes-Benz Bank AG as part of the Mercedes-Benz bus and coach insurance program. If combined with other safety systems, the discount will even be greater.
