15.03.2011 Mbombe Fighting Vehicle from Paramount Group

South Africa’s Paramount Group used defense exhibition IDEX 2011 in Abu Dhabi, UAE to introduce new Mbombe mine-protected armored fighting vehicle. The joint venture, with the UAE’s International Golden Group (IGG), has been signed in response to increasing interest in Paramount’s IED and mine protected armored vehicles from Gulf State countries. The partnership will focus initially on the market in the United Arab Emirates, with a view to bringing some of the world’s finest armored vehicles, pioneered in South Africa, to the wider region.

Mbombe fighting vehicle is based on the latest technologies. Using a 6x6 configuration, the Mbombe is able to carry considerable loads over all types of terrain without loss of mobility. Mbombe has an unladen weight of 16,000 kg and a maximum combat weight of 27,000 kg, carrying a crew of 11. The Mbombe’s six speed automatic gearbox provides a maximum speed of 100 km/h and the vehicle has a 700 km range.
