29.06.2011 First Georgian Armoured VehiclesFirst Georgian Armored personnel carrier - Didgori first time have been presented at the Independence Day of Georgia. The Didgori was developed by Delta research center of Ministry of Defense of Georgia, to meet requirements of the Georgian armed forces. Two versions of this vehicle were developed, a smaller armored scout car and larger armored personnel carrier.
The components of Didgori armor are classified it is known that it provides protection against 7.62-mm armor-piercing rounds. Vehicle has a V-shaped hull for improved protection against landmines and IEDs. Overall protection of this vehicle exceeds STANAG 4569 Level 2. A wide range of weapons can be mounted on the roof. The armored personnel carrier version is armed with a 12.7-mm machine gun, while the armored scout car version is fitted with an M134 7.62-mm six-barrel Minigun. Other weapons can be mounted, including various 40-mm automatic grenade launchers or anti-tank guided weapon launchers.
The passenger capacity depends on version. A larger APC version of Didgori can accommodate 9, while smaller armored scout car accommodates 7 occupants. The Didgori uses Ford pickup truck chassis. This armored vehicle is powered by a Ford turbocharged diesel engine, developing 450 hp.
